While I had one baby on me and others within the cradle was working 12 hour shifts grinding floors and cutting off wallpaper. Ha! The home was beginning to appear nice, however there were a few things that needed to be left. The house would need lots of time and a love of shopping. To keep the budget in check, I began going to estate sales with three sons to find jewels in the rough. We used to go on a weekly basis to visit garage sales and auctions on Sundays and Saturdays and purchase a range of pieces old and newly made. It was my job to spend the day on the drive painting or sanding. It was kind of similar to the following... Here's where my obsession with in the process of restoring old furniture got started. I continued to work on furniture, even after having completed the renovation of our home. I had a space in the market at my local location and even sold some items there. In the end, I accumulated more items that I had no idea about and had outgrown the space. I held open houses at my house where 1 000 visitors would pass through during a weekend. the visitors were able to purchase items on the ground level. Growing Days was created in this home. Not only was my business thriving but I was growing my sweet family too. I was balancing the demands between what it took starting a business and be a mommy too. Growing Days just fit. It was in 2013 when my sweet daughter Nora joined our 4th child. The direction my company was heading was great, but I had to take some time off. I took a break from furniture that was vintage to enjoy some quality time with my kids. It was what I wanted. The phone rang again after some time. People contacted me asking to help them with the interior design and renovations of their home. A majority of those calling me were people who had attended one of the furniture open houses. After a while I started taking on clients at my pace. In no time, I was managing several accounts and a home renovations business. It is likely that I would have laughed if I had been told that the business was going to be the basis for an upcoming television show in the DIY Network. Indeed, I am laughing a little when I remember the episode.
